Tetralonia
Tetralonia is a group of robust, medium-sized solitary bees. They resemble Eucera but have three submarginal cells rather than two. Both sexes typically have a conspicuous yellow, orange, or cream-colored face maculation, dense body hair and a wide abdomen with light colored, velvety hair bands at the basis of the tergites. Females also have a dense tibial scopa of plumose hairs. Males have long antennae that can reach until the base of the abdomen, rather large claws, and a larger face maculation. They are ground-nesting bees that fly during summer and have only one generation per year. Females are specialized foragers that have different groups of Asteraceae as plant hosts.
